

Joseph E. Lavelle, a resident of Sudbury for 33 years and the husband of Elinor Barrett Lavelle died unexpectedtly Sunday, August 1, 2010. He was 80. Joseph was born in East Boston May 16, 1930, the son of the late Joseph E. and Betty (Davis) Lavelle. He was raised in Waban, MA and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Newton, later receiving his Bachelors Degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Joseph was president of the New England Section of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics from 1964-1966 and has been a long time member of the Air Force Association. Joe retired from Textron Systems in 2007 after 36 years at 76 years of age. He was passionate about his career which focused on defense of this great nation. He was a dedicated husband and father. In addition to his wife, Elinor, he leaves behind his daughter and son in law, Adrienne Renee and Harold Perkins of Humble, Texas and two sons, Joseph E. Lavelle,III and Mark Lavelle, both of Sudbury. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, August 6, at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury. Visitation will be Thursday, (today) at the Duckett-J.S.Waterman Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Rt. 20, Sudbury from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Donations in memory of Joseph may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America in lieu of flowers.
