Julia Baird

March 30, 1998September 21, 2020

Julia Elizabeth Baird, 22, passed away at home on Monday, September 21, 2020.

She was born on March 30, 1998 in Chapel Hill, NC. Throughout her 22 years, heart and kidney transplants, and dozens of other hospitalizations, this exuberant tough-cookie overcame a staggering number of health challenges. She was the beloved daughter of Christopher and Tina Baird, loving sister of Catherine and Matthew Baird, and cherished granddaughter of Wallace and Phyllis Baird and Jack and Mary Cirincione. Julia is survived by her parents, siblings, grandparents Mary Cirincione and Wallace Baird, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, other loving relatives, and many amazing friends.

From collecting stickers and ponytail holders, to applying numerous coats of Lip Smackers, Julia had unique interests. She loved to collect different pieces of candy and small toys. Usually, she didn’t want to eat the candy or play with these objects; to her, they were treasures to keep in her purse. This cheerful, sweet, red-head would not be seen in public without her purse, sunglasses, bracelets, rings, hair clips, and of course, a big, contagious, sparkling smile on her face. While in Target (her all-time favorite destination), Julia would make friends out of strangers with an upbeat “Hi! How are you?” to each employee and fellow shopper. She also looked forward to walks and tandem bike rides with Mom, as well as annual family vacations to the Outer Banks in North Carolina.

At Cotting School, her special alma mater, jaunty Julia never failed to put a smile on everyone’s face. Here, she found meaningful involvement within many activities, such as the Falcons Basketball team, where she could frequently be caught strutting across the court with one arm swinging. She was always excited to share each achievement with anyone who might listen. Not afraid of the limelight, she also enjoyed singing (and dancing) with the Music Makes Me Happy Chorus.

Within her circle of family and friends, Julia instilled many meaningful lessons: to love and accept everyone, to have patience, and to avoid judging others. Moreover, she taught many that each and every person has a purpose and deserves love.

On Monday 9/21, Julia left this earth and is now able to move without any physical limitations, pain, or worry. Everyone who knew her will hold her memory near and dear to their hearts forever. The Baird family would like to thank every single individual who made a positive impact on Julia’s life.

Visitation will be held in a “drive-up” manner, at the Baird family’s home, 67 Bowditch Road, Sudbury, on Thursday, September 24. Please carpool with other members of your household; mask wearing and social distancing guidelines will be in effect. As much as the family wishes to hug each and every loved one, they hold the safety of all visitors of utmost importance. Since Julia had an affinity for stickers, the family encourages guests to bring stickers to place on Julia’s casket.

The visitation guidelines are as follows: Friends and staff of the Cotting School are invited to attend from 2-3:30PM; Lincoln-Sudbury High School friends and families from 3:30-4PM; colleagues and caregivers of the Boston Children’s Hospital, along with all other guests from 4:30-6PM. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Julia’s memory can be made to The Cotting School, 453 Concord Avenue, Lexington, MA 02421.

Julia taught me to choose joy. I will not forget the kindness and compassion her and her beautiful family showed me during my Summer at Camp High Hopes. She treated everyone as if they were her best friend. I think of Julia whenever I’m at Target and Saint John Neumann—I’ll never forget when she said,”Hi,Tesin!! How are YOU? Can I come to your house? Not today?” during communion. Her spirit and energy was so contagious—she always had the ability to make everyone around her smile and leave their hearts fuller. I am thinking of you all—May you be surrounded by strength and warm memories. Thank you for sharing Julia with us, my life has been forever changed for good.

Warmly,
Tesin Amoscato

Sweet, precious Julia. I had the pleasure working with Julia in Pittsburgh at Marshall Elementary School. She was always so happy and smiling all the time. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Julia loved pretending to be just like her teacher Natasha. She would sit at the computer and type real fast with 2 fingers just like her teacher. It was so adorable. She would not walk past anyone without saying “hi, how are you”. I loved her and spending time with her. I have the beautiful book mark with her picture and beautiful words her mom made for me on my bedroom mirror still today. I will remember her in my heart ♥️ Always.
My condolences to the family. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Dear Baird family,
Julia was such a joy to be around. I loved talking with her and all her cute questions! She always put a smile on my face every time I saw her. She touched so many in her too short life here on earth. She will be so missed and we will always have her in our hearts.
