Karen Ann Fitzgerald

Karen Ann( Segien) Fitzgerald of Ayer and formerly of Sudbury, passed away peacefully September 29, 2013. She was 45 and the wife of Michael Fitzgerald. Born in Waltham December 15, 1967,she was the daughter of Stanley Segien and the late Sandra (Joyce) Segien. Karen was a 1985 graduate of Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School. In addition to her husband, Michael, and her father, Stanley, she leaves her brothers: John and Kevin Segien; her children, Danielle and Scott Hollis; niece and nephew; Hannah and Carter Segien. She is also survived by her mother and father in law, Lynne and Daniel Fitzgerald; and was the sister in law of Michelle Robbins and Robert Fitzgerald. She also leaves behind aunts, uncles, cousin and many friends.

Karen will be remembered for her countless acts of kindness to family and friends. She found joy in simple pleasures and enjoyed cooking, camping, and gardening. She excelled in both artistic and mechanical pursuits and was most proud of her children and always enjoyed sharing their accomplishments with others. Karen always held a special place in her heart for animals and rescued many stray cats over the years.

The family will receive relatives and friends at a visitation at the Duckett-J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Rd., Rt. 20, Sudbury, Wednesday, October 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Burial will be held privately at Wadsworth Cemetery, Sudbury.

Rather than flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be directed to Buddy Dog Humane Society, 151 Boston Post Rd., Sudbury, MA 01776.
