Kimberly Jane Kelly, 56, of Concord, MA, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 23. Born May 9, 1970, in Albuquerque, NM, she was the firstborn daughter of the late Kenneth Kavanaugh and Janet Kavanagh.
Kim spent most of her childhood and early adulthood in Perth, Australia, where she earned a degree from the University of Western Australia before returning to the United States to continue her education. She met her future husband, Thomas Kelly, at Michigan State University, where she graduated with a master’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation in 1994.
Kim primarily worked as a program director for the United States Cerebral Palsy Athletic Association before settling in the Boston area to raise her two children, Kerstin and Ryan.
Kim was a kind, creative, and loving person who will be remembered most for her unwavering commitment to caring for and supporting those around her, regardless of age or ability. She touched many lives throughout her lifetime, and we are glad that she has finally found peace.
In addition to her mother, Janet, Kim is survived by her husband, Thomas Kelly; her children, Kerstin and Ryan Kelly; and her sister, Kylie Kavanagh. A private celebration of Kim’s life will be held with family at a later date. No public service is planned.
