

She was the beloved wife of the late Roger Hanney for 58 years. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Pearl (McCollem) Lawson of Weston, MA. She is survived by her children: Lianne Manzella and husband Ron of Framingham, MA, Sharon Derba and late husband Eugene, and partner Fred Vaughn of Clinton, MA. She was predeceased by her son Roger Hanney, Jr. and daughter Kristen Hanney of Framingham, MA. She is survived by her grandchildren: Kenneth Manzella and wife Priscilla of Framingham, MA, Allison Manzella and partner Paul Rossini of Framingham, MA, Eric Derba and wife Ashley of Townsend, MA, Nicole Hughes and husband Matthew of Littleton, MA. She is survived by her great grandchildren Evalina and Mariana Manzella and Brynn and Mila Derba. She leaves her brother Jeffrey Lawson and wife Susan Scott of Weston, MA, and predeceased by her sisters Joan Schimmel and late husband Mark of Wentzville, MO, and Nancy Lawson and late husband Kevin Ridgway of Groton, MA. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, in-laws, dear friends, and neighbors.
She was born in Boston on April 30, 1936, raised in Waltham and Weston where she graduated from Weston High School in 1954.
She attended Newton-Wellesley School of Nursing, and later graduated from Framingham State College in 1978. She earned a degree in Psychology and was certified as a librarian. After having her children, she worked as an assistant teacher in the Special Education Department of Framingham Public School. She also was the Children’s and Young Adult Librarian at the McAuliffe Branch Library in Framingham. She was proud to be a Framingham resident for 58 years. She also spent time in New Port Richey, FL for 13 years. She was a passionate genealogist and discovered that she was a direct descendant of seven Mayflower families and a life member of the Society of the Descendants of the Mayflower on the Alden Kindred. She was an avid reader, persistent gardener, and enjoyed working in the yard. She liked to travel, especially to satisfy the love of ancient history and nature's blessings. Her greatest pleasures were her family, being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Services will be held at the Duckett Funeral Home, 656 Boston Post Rd., Sudbury, MA 01776.
