Funny, but when I used to think of the term "Mother-in-Law" it was Ugh! Negative. I had heard all the horror stories from my friends. But then, when I married Peter, Loretta became my mother-in-law, and all that changed. With my mother at a distance in NJ, Loretta became my second mother. She was loving, encouraging, smart and honest. I met Peter's parents at a church choir gathering where they invited me to "suppa" of baked beans. I was told that was a high honor, but being from NJ where Cambell's baked beans were a side dish at a barbecue, I was baffled. I was soon introduced to the perfect New England meal of ham, baked beans and all the goodies I never expected. She loved to cook, and we loved to eat her wonderful meals around the table at family gatherings in Sudbury. Her words of wisdom helped guide me through thick and thin. When Matt was born she came to our house in Boylston, made me a ham sandwich and sent me to bed. I think I kissed her feet and woke up 20 hours later! I know I am blessed to have landed in this loving family with lovely Loretta at the helm. May she rest in peace.

I always had fun with Loretta and Ed at their home on Peakham Rd making ice cream, singing or hearing stories of their growing up in Maine. Loretta shared her sharp sense of humor with me so many times, explained to me why I needed to 'rethink' something and teased me about all that long hair I had way back when. Such a wonderfully smart lady.........................I miss her already.
