They were married in 1943 and spent the first year of their marriage in Washington, DC, where Tom was in Navy training and Martha worked at Walter Reed Army Hospital. After the war, they lived in Norwood. They moved to Sudbury in 1950 where they were founding members of Our Lady of Fatima parish. After Tom’s death in 1957, Martha returned to nursing and worked in public health for the Natick Visiting Nurse Association, and later, as Case Manager at Leonard Morse Hospital. She began a new career at age 70 as Ombudsperson at the Sudbury Senior Center. The Town of Sudbury, on the occasion of her retirement at age 80, declared Martha Curran Day in her honor.
