Myrtle Louise Lennon

January 25, 1934January 28, 2019

Myrtle Lennon also known by friends as “Mert” was granted her angel wings on January 28th 2019. She was 85 years young and was loved by all.

She was the sister of John MacLeod and the late David MacLeod. The loving wife of the late John B. Lennon and was also predeceased by her first love, Harold M. Moore and resided in Sudbury, MA. She was the beloved mother of four children and their spouses: Harold and Karen Moore, Cheryl and Bill Hazeltine, Scott and Maria Moore, Sandi and Warren Plachy. Both her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her heart and joy and would answer to either “Nana” or “Nina”. These amazing grandchildren are: Ashlee & Jesse Alling, Amanda & Matt Audette, Samantha & Dave Hershberger, Chris Moore and Danielle Plachy as well as adorable great grandbabies: Owen and Claire.

She was always up for an adventure, whether that be camping, movies with the kids, scrapbooking, day trips with her sister-in-law Bunny, enjoying the hot sun (never too hot!) traveling with the family or shopping (oh boy…loved this). The holidays with family were her favorite time of the year. She loved hosting the Christmas Eve family party, bringing us all together for the evening where we laughed, shared stories, swapped joke gifts and enjoyed her famous “Sweet and Sour Meatballs”.

She never saw herself as getting older, age never held her back. She loved working at Sudbury Pines Extended Care facility where she built tremendous friendships with both the staff and the patients where many of them called her “Merty”.

Celebration of Life will take place at the Duckett-J.S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road (Route 20), Sudbury, on Saturday morning, February 2, 2019 from 9-11:00 AM with a memorial service starting immediately thereafter. Interment will be private.

My sister Maria was Mert’s daughter-in-law , so my family was lucky enough to spend many holidays together. I remember her laughing with my parents and fawning over my three boys. She had a big heart and warm smile. We are sorry for your loss , she will truly be missed

(For those of you who do not know me, I am Jesse Alling’s mother and, happily therefore, Ashlee’s mother-in-law.) As our two families were celebrating Ashlee’s graduation from college and Ashlee’s and Jesse’s marriage, I had the opportunity to get to know Myrt. I was struck by her warmth and how she seemed to radiate delight when she talked about family. She (as did others) welcomed me readily at any event. I always felt good when I was with her.

How fortunate I am to have those memories.

I can only imagine how much she will be missed by friends and family. My heart goes out to each of you in your grief.
