Born on January 4, 1934, in Weirton, West Virginia to the late Anastasios and Eugenia (Maroulis) Papaminas, she was the youngest of 5 children: the late Andrew (Sunday), Irene, and twins George and Minas.
In 1937 her family relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. She sang in the Annunciation Cathedral choir for many years. She later started a contemporary Greek singing group called “The Pan Hellenians” along with her three friends, Helen, Spa and Jeanne. The group recorded a record, toured and sang on the radio.
In June of 1960 she married her late husband, Peter Liacopulos, with whom she had four children: Fr. George (Presvytera Voula Doulis), Dr. Ernest, Gena, and Joni (Anthony Dantona). She is also survived by her three grandchildren: Peter (Eleni Dendrinos), John (Lucas), and Mark, and great-grandchildren: George and Paraskevi. She had many nieces, nephews and godchildren whom she loved dearly.
She and Peter raised their family in Marlborough, Massachusetts, where they shared many happy years together. She enjoyed her weekly Bridge games with her Helen Drive friends, Cathie, Carol and Betty. She spent most of her career as an administrator with various Ophthalmologists, beginning with her first and favorite “boss” Dr. Wolfe in Baltimore. For several years she was a Sunday School teacher and Philoptochos member at both St. Anargyroi Church in Marlborough and St. Demetrios Church in Weston. For over 35 years and right up until this past Christmas, she chaired the church’s Christmas card fundraiser rightfully earning her title as “The Christmas Card Lady”.
She was proud to be known for her delicious yaprakia (stuffed grape leaves) and other Greek dishes which she loved to make for everyone. She enjoyed her crossword puzzles, reading romance novels, and watching Perry Mason and old game shows. She attended every reunion of Eastern High School which she graduated from in 1951. Perhaps most of all, she loved spending time with her family and friends in Baltimore and Ocean City, Maryland; New Jersey; and Rhodes, Greece.
