

The Honorable Paul Francis Healy, Jr., 75, of Sudbury, died on Wednesday, April 6, 2016, following a year-long battle with leukemia. Healy was the loving husband of Sherry Marie (Lewis), to whom he had been married for 43 years.
Healy was born on December 15, 1940 in New Haven, Connecticut to the late Paul Francis and Esther Lillian (Sullivan) Healy. He grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton High School in 1958 and The College of the Holy Cross in 1962. After college, he attended Boston College Law School, graduating in 1965, before serving in the United States Navy as a Judge Advocate General (JAG) from 1965 to 1968. Following his service in the Navy, Healy was an Assistant U.S Attorney in Washington, D.C. from 1970 to 1975 and in Boston from 1975 to 1987. From 1978 to 1987, he served as the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division. In 1987, Governor Michael Dukakis appointed Healy as an Associate Justice in the Framingham District Court. He became First Justice in 2008, and served in total for 23 years at the courthouse before his retirement in 2010. For several years, Healy led the Framingham drug court, which aimed to help drug offenders in treatment efforts. Post-retirement, Healy co-chaired the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health Task Force on Staff and Client Safety.
Healy was also active in Sudbury Little League, for which he coached and umpired. Healy also served as commissioner of Sudbury Little League, as well as Senior Babe Ruth. In more recent years, Healy was an active member of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Sudbury at Our Lady of Fatima Parish.
Besides his wife, Healy leaves his children Paul III of Shrewsbury, Kathryn (Sucich) of Framingham, and Sarah of Boston, as well as his daughter-in-law Tricia, son-in-law John, and grandchildren Lillian, Abigail, Brian, and Maeve. He also leaves his sister Ann Marie Sawyer of Westborough (formerly of Marlborough), his brother John and his wife Lee of Centerville (formerly of Sudbury), and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Paul’s name to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, Sudbury, c/o Our Lady of Fatima Parish, 160 Concord Rd., Sudbury, MA 01776. Alternatively, blood or platelet donations would be gratefully accepted at MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham where Judge Healy received his leukemia treatments.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 11, 2016 at 9AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury. Interment with military honors will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Sudbury.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 10, 2016 from 1-5PM at the Duckett - J. S. Waterman & Sons Home of Memorial Tribute, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury.
