She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; three children, Dr. Prudence Jones, Dr. Kendrick Jones (Paula), and Dr. Krister Jones (Kristin); and four grandchildren, Sofia, Anna, Kasen, and Kamellia, all of whom brought great joy to Priscilla in recent years.
Priscilla grew up in Dedham, Mass. She had a lifelong passion for learning and education. She received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the State College of Framingham in 1962. She continued to earn a Master’s in education from Smith College and a Doctorate of Education from the Harvard University School of Education.
Priscilla taught kindergarten at a variety of schools in Massachusetts, including Milton Academy. She taught kindergarten for many years, and then became a Professor of Education at Wheaton College and Wheelock College. After her children were born, she continued working in the admissions department at Wellesley College until her retirement a few months ago.
Priscilla loved serving as Secretary of the Board of Directors for the Dover Historical Society. As the Curator of the Caryl House, she enjoyed teaching the history of the Caryl House and Fisher Barn to schoolchildren. She was very active with the Chicatabot Garden Club and at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church, where she led the Flower Committee, taught in the Church School, and, through the Outreach Committee, was involved in the church’s volunteer efforts at the Epiphany School.
She was skilled at knitting, even spinning her own yarn from pet sheep for several years. She loved reading and had a particular interest in early American history. In her later years, she enjoyed watercolor and making greeting cards.
A memorial service will be held at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church on November 11 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Dover Historical Society, P.O. Box 534, Dover, MA 02030 or online at www.doverhistoricalsociety.org.
