Stephen King, a dedicated mentor, devoted husband, and loving father, passed away on April 4, 2026, after complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was 77 years old.
Throughout his life, Stephen was guided by a deep belief in helping others realize their potential. Professionally, he was known for his generosity with time, wisdom, and encouragement, consistently supporting colleagues, students, and professionals as they navigated career transitions and pursued new opportunities. He found genuine purpose in connecting people to possibility, offering thoughtful guidance, and celebrating the successes of others as if they were his own.
Stephen’s greatest pride, however, was his family. He was a devoted husband to his wife of 49 years, Valarie, whose partnership and love were the foundation of his life. Together they built a home rooted in commitment, humility, and care for others. He was an engaged and deeply present father to his son, Stephen Jr., and his daughters, Kimberly and Danielle, always emphasizing integrity, perseverance, and compassion. Whether through quiet conversations, steadfast support, or simply showing up, Stephen made his children feel seen, valued, and encouraged to follow their own paths. He was Grampy as well, committed to his five Grandchildren. He always cherished their visits and championed their accomplishments whether it be on a field or on stage. He loved Ava’s spirit, Bryce’s bravado, Aidan’s inquisitiveness and quiet strength, or Ellie’s and Cora’s wonderment in all we did as a family. Stephen is also survived by his younger brother, Gregory, with whom he shared a lifelong bond of family loyalty and mutual respect.
Those who knew Stephen will remember his calm strength, unwavering sense of responsibility to others, and ability to listen with intention. Even as he faced the challenges of Parkinson’s disease, he did so with dignity and grace, remaining focused on the people he loved and the relationships that mattered most to him.
A funeral service will be held on April 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Greater Framingham Community Church, followed by the burial at Blue Hills Cemetery, Braintree, MA.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life defined by service, love, and quiet leadership. Stephen’s legacy lives on in the many lives he encouraged, the family he cherished, and the values he modeled to us every day.
