

September 25, 1937 in Washington, DC. He grew up in DC with his four
brothers and two sisters.
At the age of 17 he enlisted in the Navy and received an honorable discharge
after his tour of duty ended. He later married and had three children, Kim,
Michael (deceased) and Andre. After living in DC for several years, he moved to
Boston and started working at Massachusetts General Hospital. While working
at MGH, his introduction to Helen began when he asked her what the “H” on
her nameplate stood for. And, thus began a relationship that lasted over 45
years.
After leaving MGH, Sylvester worked at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital as a
Cardiac Catheterization Technician and retired after 30 years of service.
Sylvester was an avid reader and jogged daily. He enjoyed traveling, going to
the theatre and spending quality time with his family. He was a quiet loving and
supportive man with a quick wit and a great sense of humor.
He is survived by his siblings, Lorraine, Jimmy and Kenny; two children, Kim
and Andre; 12 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces,
nephews, family and friends; and Helen, his soul mate and best friend to the
end.
