Meimaris, Tasia (Karageorge), 88, of Wayland and W. Yarmouth,MA, previously of Weston died March 23 at home per her wishes. She was wife to the late George D. Meimaris, and mom to James G. Meimaris of Macedonia OH, Christine Meimaris of Wayland, and the late Marcia Meimaris of Chagrin Falls, OH. She was sister to the late Lee Karageorge. Born in Pittsburgh, daughter to the late Marcus and Grace Karageorge. Tasia graduated from Schenley High School and The University of Pittsburgh. Tasia was an elementary school teacher for the Weston Public schools and was one of those teaches who parents requested for their children. She was a parishioner of St. Demetrio’s Greek Orthodox Church and a member of the Philotochos, a Wayland Garden Club gardener, volunteered at the Wayland Depot and on the board of directors of Friends of Wayside Hospice. Tasia was an Eastern Star, and for many she was our North. On a beautiful summer day, her George wrote “She was 17 and I was 20 when we first met and she just captured my heart. She was a freshman at Pitt and I was a soldier in the Army Specialized Training Program at Pitt. We had our first date in the fall of 1943 and on that day I proposed to her and guess what? She said yes! We agreed to wait until wars end, for I did not want to leave a widow behind. Upon my return in 1945 we waited until Tasia graduated in 1946 and we were married. She is a terrific mother, wife, friend and companion. What else could a man want?” In addition to her children she is survived by her granddaughters; Alexis Lauria of Wayland MA, Meridith Vachon of OH, Jenny Holbrook of OH and a grandson Andrew Meimaris of Green Bay. Nancy Agris Savage
March 27, 2014
My mother, Antigone Agris, and I send our deepest condolences to Tasia's family. She was a dear friend to Mom and I will remember many evenings both Tasia and George were at our house when I was young. I saw her recently at St. D with her aide and while I am not certain she placed me exactly, she gave me the same huge smile she has generously shared in the past. Her memory will truly be eternal, as is George's, with the Agris family and so many other dear friends from our parish.
