

Thomas T. Brooks, of Wellesley, Sept. 4, 2011 Beloved husband devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, and friend passed away peacefully in Wellesley on Sept 4. Predeceased by his wife, Susan and grandson Alexander Brooks.Born in Hallowell, Maine on April 16, 1917. Tom grew up in Newtonville, MA, graduated from Newton High School, in 1935 and Dartmouth College in 1939. Tom found his perfect wife in Susan Spencer of Darien, CT. They married in 1944, forming a union of love and care that lasted 50 years ending with Sue’s, death in 1993.Survived by children, Judith of MN; Thomas (Dawn Gagnon) of Billerica, MA; Richard (Martha) of Barrington, RI; Peter (Derry) of Harvard, MA; Grandchildren: Matthew Brooks Hutchinson (Sara) of Park City, UT; John L.V. Brooks (Amy) of Quincy, MA; Kate Nielson (Joey) of Waltham; Andrew Thomas Brooks of Denver, CO; David Thomas Brooks of MN; Elizabeth Spencer Brooks of West Hollywood, CA; Amy Roberts (William) of Newport, RI; Amberley Masters of Park City, UT; Lauren Masters of Harvard, MA. Great grandchildren Brewster Hutchinson and Sadie Hutchinson of Park City, UT and Aiden Roberts of Newport, RI.A Navy Lieutenant in WWII, Tom took part in the amphibious landings in North Africa and the Mediterranean. He held sales and management positions later serving as Vice President at Kendall Co. and Colgate Palmolive. After retirement Tom became a volunteer for “Jobs for Youth” and served as a Boston school volunteer and took up water color painting. A member of the Wellesley Congregational Church, the Villagers Men’s Club, and Wellesley Society of Artists.After Sue’s death Tom resparked a high school acquaintance with Clara Wisbach of Winchester. Their loving friendship lasted until her death in 2008.Tom enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, gardening, watching the birds at his feeder, any activity with his family, water color painting and happy hours with friends.Tom always felt that life had been especially good to him and expressed his gratitude and appreciation at every opportunity. An unassuming, confident and independent man, possessed with a keen wit, loving heart, deep allegiance to friends, family, church, Springer Spaniels, Boston Red Sox, and Dartmouth College. The family has been residents of Wellesley since 1952. The family wishes to thank the Newton-Wellesley hospital for their gentle and compassionate care. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made to the Salvation Army Summer Camps Program. Funeral services Thursday, Sept. 8: 2011 at 2:00PM at the Wellesley Congregational (Village) Church, 2 Central Street, Wellesley, MA. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Wellesley
