Vernon Stanley “Sonny” Burnham, Jr. 89 of South Yarmouth, formerly of Northborough, passed away peacefully due to a prolonged illness.
Born on June 16, 1934 in Malden, MA; son of the late Vernon S. Burnham, Sr. and Margaret H. (Parks) Burnham.
Dad instilled in us the beauty of nature.. particularly of Cape Cod..music and animals. He loved his family, playing hockey, being outside in the sun, living on his boat at the marina in South Yarmouth, fishing, being a carpenter and his golden retriever Guy. Dad had a great sense of humor. There were many years of “I have a joke” and even if we didn’t find it to be all that funny he would laugh no matter what and we would always laugh with him..we loved hearing dad laugh.
Stan was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Stan is survived by his son John “Mike” Burnham of Yarmouth, MA, his daughter Linda Burnham of Framingham, MA, daughter Brenda & her husband Nicholas Didonna of Grafton, MA and his two grandsons Danny Huss of Raleigh, NC and Alex Burnham of Natick, MA. He also leaves behind his brother Timothy and sister in-law Janice Burnham of Simpsonville, SC and was predeceased by his brothers, Charles “Bill” Burnham and Robert “Mike” Burnham. He also leaves behind many friends whom some he’s known since childhood. Stan also leaves behind his former wife Anita Burnham of Northborough.
Following our dad’s wishes he will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the MSPCA 1577 Falmouth Rd., Centerville, MA 02632.
