

Born to the late Joseph M. and Esther V. Healy, Veronica was predeceased by her sisters, Jean Lavin and Esther Giacomuzzi, as well as her cherished grandson, Ryan Murdock.She is survived by her four devoted children and their spouses: Gerard P. McCarthy and his wife, Theresa, of Belmont; Elizabeth J. Foley and her husband, Adam, of Natick; Scott R.McCarthy and his wife, Ann, of Litchfield, Connecticut; and Laura V. Murdock and her husband, Hernan, of Wayland. She was the loving “Grammy”or“GiGi” to her eight grandchildren: Daniel (Chelsea), Caroline, and Katherine McCarthy; Emma and Isabelle Foley; and Matthew, Sarah, and Ellen McCarthy. She also leaves her great-grandson, Quinn McCarthy.
Veronica was a graduate of Bridgewater Teachers College and earned a Master of Arts degree in History from Harvard University. She was a longtime teacher at Concord-Carlisle Regional High School. Later, she mentored many student teachers from local universities.
A lifelong lover of art and art history, Veronica served as a docent at the McMullen Art Museum at Boston College. In retirement, she and her husband, Dick, traveled extensively, delighting in exploring every museum a city could offer.
She treasured time with her friends in Sudbury, her colleagues in the Concord-Carlisle history department, and her companions at the Thoreau Club. Above all, she cherished her family, who will forever hold her in their hearts and memories.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, April 16, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Duckett Funeral Home, 656 Boston Post Road, Sudbury.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 17, at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Fatima Church – Ascension Parish, 160 Concord Road, Sudbury. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Sudbury.
