Adrien Nelson, a profoundly loving father, devoted brother, and retired psychiatrist, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in the Bronx, NY, at the age of 79. Born in Cap-Haitien, Haiti, on January 29, 1946, he was the beloved son of the late Alphonse and Charite (nee Daniel) Nelson. Adrien lived a life defined by strength, unshakable loyalty, and, above all, a deep and abiding love for his family. His children were the center of his world, and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them. As a father, Adrien was fiercely protective, endlessly supportive, and wholly devoted. Whether offering his wisdom, his time, or simply his presence, he gave all of himself without hesitation or condition. His love was a constant force, steady and strong, and his children, Sebastian, Moescha, and Nataneli, carry his spirit, his strength, and his unwavering love with them always. Adrien's devotion to others extended well beyond his home. Throughout his career as a psychiatrist with the Department of Veterans Affairs in Augusta, GA, he offered care and compassion to those who needed it most. Known for his insight, empathy, and tireless work ethic, Adrien left a lasting impact on the lives he touched. His patients and colleagues alike remember him for his brilliance, integrity, and unforgettable wit. That wit, paired with his dark and often hilarious sense of humor, could make anyone smile. Adrien's dry, quick wit was legendary and delivered with a straight face and a glint in his eye. Whether with family, friends, or total strangers, he found a way to make you laugh and feel at ease. His humor didn't shout but it lingered, made you think, and stayed with you. Behind his sharp jokes, however, was a deeply reflective soul, a man who found peace in quiet moments, whether listening to the soothing rhythm of rainfall or the nostalgic melodies of old French songs. Adrien was more than just a father and a healer, he was a pillar of love and strength for his entire family. He is survived by his children, Sebastian, Moescha, and Nataneli Nelson; his beloved godson, Rommel Daniel; and his devoted siblings: Anthony, Alain, Harry, Alphonse, Annelle, Guetty, Eric Fouquet, and Evange Fouquet. He will be deeply missed by his loving family, as well as by all members of the Nelson, Daniel, and Cadet families. To them, and to anyone who knew him, Adrien was a mentor, a protector, and a friend. He was always ready with a story, a wise word of advice, or a heartfelt embrace. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY 10901. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at The Church of St. Joseph, 245 N. Main St., Spring Valley, NY. Adrien will be laid to rest following the service at Brick Church Cemetery in Spring Valley. Adrien's legacy is one of profound love, unwavering loyalty, and wisdom. He gave his all to the people he loved and in doing so, left behind a lasting light that will never fade. He will be missed more than words can ever express, and remembered with endless love.
