Albert Charles Penksa, 93 years of age, of Appleland Road, Airmont, New York passed away on May 25, 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving children.

Albert was born in Simpson Pennsylvania, on November 10, 1927. He left home at the age of 16 to join the Coast Guard/Merchant Marines and served his country throughout World War II in war zones in both Europe and the Pacific. He called upon nearly every port in the world as a seaman in the Merchant Marines. Upon the end of the war, he was not done serving his country and joined the US Army to fight in the Korean War.

After Korea, Albert was honorably discharged from the Army and moved back to Simpson where he married Helen Jean Sekunda. They raised five children who all survived him and journeyed to his home in Airmont to take care of him in his final days; Karen Joy Francone of Sanger California, Janet Penksa of Fairport, New York, Allan Penksa of Gainesville, Florida, Nancy Penksa-Frisone of Milwaukee Wisconsin and Robert Penksa of Park Ridge, New Jersey.

Albert was involved in the early development of robotics in the automobile industry. His long-standing career included Ford Motor Company in Mahwah New Jersey and General Motors in Tarrytown, New York and additional years at Grant Hardware in Rockland County, New York. There was never a mechanical device Albert could not fix nor a neighbor he would not help.

Albert was predeceased by his wife Helen, and along with his five children is survived by two of his sisters, Joan Penska of Ridgefield New Jersey and Victoria Sinapi of Florida.

Albert also has 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, located throughout the country who will miss their grandpa dearly.

A Catholic funeral service commemorating his incredible life of adventure, wisdom, faith and service to both family and country will be held at a later date. Details will be posted on this website when determined.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Antler Ridge Wildlife Sanctuary, Newton New Jersey or United Hospice of Rockland.

I would like to send my prayers and condolences to the Penska family.
I used to be his mailman on Appleland Drive for several years back in the 1990's. We had some nice chats and he was a soft spoken man.
Before I retired from the Post Office in the Fall of 2015, I was a mailman for 27 years and I was very attached to a lot of my mail customers and Mr. Penska was one I would never forget.
May the Lord hold Mr. Penska in the palm of His hands.
Rest in peace my friend.
