Anna was born on February 13, 1931 to the late Andrew and Mary (Borucka) Worysz in New York, NY.
Anna loved Pachelbel’s Canon in D, Entr’acte from Carmen, the Humming Chorus from Madam Butterfly, Pink Floyd’s “Animals”, and any play in which her granddaughters took part. Her crocheted blankets, hats, scarves, and tops have been loved by everyone who received them. And they’re still in use.
Anna was an avid bridge player, hosting a weekly game in her home for several years; active in the Suffern Seniors club, receiving citizen’s recognition for teaching bridge at the club; and a bit of a cat fancier. She was the loving cat-mom of Cookie in her later years, and you could find them napping together. She also enjoyed saltwater fishing with her son and often won the pool for the largest fish caught.
Anna had a peculiar way of breaking into uncontrollable laughter when the right thing hit her just the right way and would laugh until she cried, taking everyone around her along for the ride until no one was able to control their own laughter. (All her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins know about Laughing Fits!)
Anna is survived by her loving son, James D. Derivan and his wife Phyllis; caring brother, Andrew Worysz; beloved granddaughters, Bonnie (Matthew), Emily (Sean), Angela (Sam), Jessica (Terran), and Dawn (Ryan); and great-grandchildren Lorelai, Eliza, Amelia, Benjamin, Sebastian, and Sarah. Cousins, nieces, and nephews also survive her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 from 2-6pm at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Rt. 59, Suffern, NY. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, December 15th at 11:00 am also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Airmont Cemetery, Airmont, NY.
