Barbara I. New, a resident of Thiells, NY, passed away on June 16, 2024. She was 78 years old. Barbara was born on December 1, 1945 in Bronx, NY to the late Sabastian and Concetta (Petriella) Rio. Before her retirement she worked for many years as a Human Resources Director. Barbara was the kindest and most giving person you would ever meet. She was always there for everyone. She was devoted to her family and only wanted to see them do well.
She is survived by her daughters, Erica Arancibia and Adrienne New, her son in law, Aldo Arancibia and three Grandchildren, Stefan Arancibia, Skye Joyce and Joseph Rutko.
She was predeceased by her husband, Terance New and her brothers, Donald Rio and Robert Rio.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 19th from 4-8pm at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, June 20th at 12:00 pm at Sacred Heart Church, 129 Lafayette Avenue, Suffern, NY 10901. Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, 650 Saddle River Rd., Airmont, NY 10952.
