Marie Bernadette Jeudy (“Bernadette”), 48, passed away on June 27, 2020 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was born in 1972 in Jérémie, Haiti and spent most of her life in Spring Valley, New York. Throughout her life, Bernadette wore many hats and achieved numerous dreams. Bernadette attended Pace University where she received her bachelor’s degree. She went on to receive a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership from Mercy College in 2011 and later, a certificate from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. In her professional life, Bernadette excelled and rose quickly in the financial services industry, ending her career as a Director at Morgan Stanley. Bernadette had an entrepreneurial spirit and a knack for fulfilling a vision, starting a children’s clothing line, a real estate practice, and a wellness and health coaching business. In 2019, Bernadette released a memoir, Tested Innocence, that chronicled her life from her childhood in Haiti to her relationships as an adult, and her lessons learned along the way. She launched the book at the Embassy of Haiti in Washington, D.C. in October 2019 and was featured in Haitian Times and Broadway World. Above all, her greatest achievement and passion was being a mother to her beautiful and talented daughter, Chrystal. In her free time, Bernadette enjoyed traveling, fitness and nutrition, and spending time with her beloved family and friends. Bernadette adored the beach and could be found each summer relaxing on the shore or posing for the perfect photograph. She volunteered as a mentor for the Haitian Mentorship Network and donated to several charities over the years including Haitian-American Youth Organization (HAYO). She will be remembered as an incredible hostess, a dedicated mother, and the life of the party. Bernadette is survived by her daughter Chrystal Thomas; mother Marie Brionne Jeudy, siblings Jean Dorvilier, Lumine Damour, and Pascale Verly; and many close family members, friends, and professional colleagues whose lives she touched. The funeral will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, NY on July 11, 2020 at 10 AM. Flowers can be arranged through a florist who knew Bernadette personally: AVS Flowers at 800-757-0549 or online at www.avsflowers.com. The family requests that all flowers be sent to the funeral home before 9 AM on July 11, 2020. The family will hold a larger celebration of life memorial for Bernadette in the summer of 2021. “Life is about enjoying the little things: family, friends, and fun.” – Bernadette Jeudy

Bernie had a heart of gold. A compassionate soul who would deny her own needs to satisfy those of others:
I remember that time in college when I was not working and my financial aid package was not enough to cover the price of an accounting book. When I told Bernie, she immediately offered to buy the book. I later on found out that Bernie had just learned that she had lost her job when she offered to buy me that book. I love you Bernie for caring and your memory is my keepsake with which I will never part.

Rest in Peace,

Erline

I remember on night back in college, Bernie came knocking on my door and asked to sleep over because she had just had an argument with her roommate and was shaken by the words that they had exchanged. We talked about it and then decided to sleep it off, but after awhile, Bernie stood up, reached for the doorknob, and turned back and said " I am a militant, a survivor and will not allow anyone to force me out of my own room. I am going back to my room and stand my ground." she went back and stoop up to her roommate.
Bernie's strong-willed and tenacity led her to her success and high achievements. She was an inspiration to me.
I miss you Bernie,
Carline

Bernadette was amazing, kind and beautiful person. I will never.forget her support of me in the summer of 2011

We had just met and she wanted to support a local black designer. That meant so much to me because I was just starting on my own and her support of my mom's label was the only beginning of her kind nature. We went on becoming friends and supported each other year's to come. I will never.forget her style and her beautiful smile. She inspired me and I will miss her. My sincere condolences to her beautiful daughter and her family.

I remember the first time I met Bernadette at a mutual friend’s son communion reception 11 years ago. We instantly became friends and was very supportive of each other. Our birthday was few days a part. We love almost the same things. OMG! I can’t believe you are gone. I’m broken-hearted and as usual, I’m late but this time it wasn’t my fault. Goodbyes are not forever, are not the end; it simply means, I’ll miss you until we meet again. R.I.P Bernadette Jeudy AKA My Pieces Sister “You have been my friend. That in itself is a tremendous thing.” -E.B. White (Charlotte’s Web)

Bernie, I am deeply saddened that I will no longer get to spend time, talk, or just get advice on life from you. You will always be in my heart. I will forever cherish my memories of you and reminisce over the love and good energy you brought to all your family and friends.
