Bertha was born in Spring Valley, NY on October 31st, 1928, to Matilda and Leroy Chase. She was one of eight siblings, all of whom have predeceased her. Bertha married Stewart F. Osborne on May 28th, 1955. They lived in Monsey and enjoyed 52 blissful years together until Stewart’s death in 2008.
Bertha worked for many years for the telephone company as a telephone operator. She was a 60 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was active in the Ramapo Valley Campers Association. Bertha loved spending time with her family and camping in their R.V. But her greatest joy came from her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bertha is survived by her loving family, daughter Jeanne Skala (Richard) and son James Osborne (Sue); grandchildren, Eric Skala, Tracy Skala, Ethan Osborne (Danielle), and Troy Osborne; great-grandchildren, Austin Skala, Orin Osborne and Zipporah Osborne, and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Family will receive friends on Monday, October 28th, 2024 from 4-7 p.m. and Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. with funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. Interment will follow in the Osborne Family plot of the Brick Church Cemetery, 221 Brick Church Road, Spring Valley, NY.
