A Celebration of Life will be held for Bruce on Saturday September 17th, 2022, with visitation starting at 5 PM, and a Military Service to begin at 6 PM. Please join us at the Nyack Seaport, located at 21 Burd Street in Nyack, NY, if you wish to attend.
Bruce was born in Suffern, NY on December 12, 1951, to John and Carolyn Linguanti. Growing up as the oldest of five children, he enjoyed surfing, racing go-karts, hunting, fishing, and everything outdoors. He played hockey for, and graduated from, Suffern High School. Bruce was a very proud Marine Veteran. He was enlisted for two years during the Vietnam era, and later became a member of the American Legion Post 1600 in Pomona, NY. After service, he went on to work as a heavy equipment operator throughout Rockland County and surrounding areas. He retired from Victor P. Zugabee Excavating Inc. in 2013.
Bruce is Survived by his Wife Audrey; his two daughters, Carolyn Zehr and Amanda Salberg; his five beloved grandchildren, Tylor Salberg, Molly Salberg, Benjamin Zehr, Jaxon Salberg and Dean Zehr; his Stepmother Barbara Linguanti, brother Jack Linguanti, and sisters Nancy Linguanti-Duddy, and Joann Malm. He is preceded in death by his first wife Elizabeth, his brother Vincent, and his son Vincent.
Bruce worked hard his whole life, and was able to enjoy so many wonderful experiences, but had always talked about wanting to take a cross country road trip to see the whole country. He finally set off on his adventure during the summer of 2021. With the trunk of his Jeep full of camping gear, and a GPS he didn’t know how to work, he drove westward and spent the summer visiting childhood friends, National Parks, beaches, and mountains. Bruce came back to New York on Thanksgiving Day 2021 to share all he had experienced with his family. He proclaimed that “If I die tomorrow, I will die a happy Man. I lived to be 70 years old, I’ve met all my grandchildren, and I saw the country I served my time to protect!”
His family lives with comfort knowing that Bruce got to live his last year as one of his best. They believe he is standing tall and healthy again, reunited with all whom he loved and passed on before him. Bruce was a kind and caring man who suffered much throughout his life, but never let that stop a good time. He will be missed terribly!
