Carmela G. Trischitta Gattuso

Carmela G. Gattuso of Suffern passed away Saturday, November 15, 2014, she was 95. Born in Sloatsburg, NY on February 8, 1919 to Santo and Carmela Trischitta. In 1940 she married Angelo Gattuso and they remained happily married for 55 years before his passing in 1945. Carmela was employed as a Meat Wrapper at Gattuso Bros. IGA, Suffern, NY for 16 years. She was also a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, a volunteer at Christ Church in Suffern and a member of Suffern Seniors and Ramapo Seniors.

She is survived by her daughters; Connie (John) Murray of Chestnut Ridge, NY and Tina Pomroy of Port Orange, FL, grandchildren; Darlene (John) Knapp, Karen (Robert) Venturella, granddaughter-in-law; Karen Murray and 6 great-grandchildren who she adored dearly. Carmela is predeceased by her parents; Santo and Carmela Trischitta, husband; Angelo Gattuso, siblings; Antoinette Massaro, Rosario Trischitta, Julie Bollatto, Mary Greyt, Helen Ackerson (Carmela’s twin), Anthony Trischitta, Peter Trischitta and her grandson; Peter Murray.

Visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901 on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 2-4 & 7-9pm. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, Suffern, NY on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 at 10am with the interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Airmont, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956.
