Catherine Ann Meagher

Catherine Ann Meagher (nee O’Rourke) was born in New York City on June 18, 1934, to Irish immigrants, Thomas and Catherine (nee McWeeney). She was raised on Adrian Avenue in the Marble Hill section of The Bronx where she attended St. John’s Church and later Aquinas High School. She loved reminiscing about her old neighborhood: the close-knit community, the wonderful neighbors, and the many memories made with her siblings, Tommy and Theresa.

After graduation, Ann (as she was commonly referred) was employed at AT&T in Lower Manhattan working as an assistant to one of the VPs of Finance. While attending a parish dance, she met the love of her life, Kevin Meagher, and married him at St. John’s Church in 1956. They soon moved to Rockland County where she raised her three children, Kevin, Taryn, and Colin. She became an active member of Sacred Heart, joining the Newcomers Club where she made many lifelong friends.

Some of Ann's fondest memories were made down the shore. She loved reminiscing about weekend outings as a kid to Rockaway and vacations with her family on Long Beach Island. A day spent at the beach with her husband was a good day. Ann and Kevin were happily married for 67 years. They gave their family a living example of devotion, showing that with humor and grace, love really can last a lifetime.

Ann is survived by her three children, Kevin, Taryn Cannon (Tim), and Colin as well as her grandchildren Lt. Aedan O’Rourke Cannon, Maeve Dvorak (Sean), Angelique Earley, and her great-grandson Tyler. She is preceded in death by her husband Kevin Patrick, grandson Kevin Cannon, brother Tommy and sister Theresa.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 15, 2026, from 9-10:30am at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Rt. 59 Suffern, NY 10901. A funeral mass will be held at 11am at Sacred Heart Church 129 Lafayette Avenue Suffern, NY followed by burial at Ascension Cemetery 650 Saddle River Road Airmont, NY.
