Born on April 1, 1943, in New York City to the late Dominick and Margaret (DeVito) Sammarone, Daniel lived a life defined by kindness, curiosity, and compassion. Before his retirement, he worked for many years as a mortgage consultant, where his integrity and dedication earned the respect and trust of those he served.
Daniel was a man of many interests, but one of his greatest passions was simply learning. He possessed an incredible depth of knowledge on countless subjects and could engage anyone in conversation, always listening, always teaching, and always finding common ground. Those who knew him will remember him as a gentle giant with a generous spirit, a man who cared deeply for others and treated everyone like family.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Eileen (McCormack) Sammarone; his daughter, Eileen Sammarone and her life partner, Frank Rosemberg; his son, Frank Sammarone and his wife, Gloria, of Warwick, NY; his daughter, Margaret Sammarone-Hyman and her husband, Daniel, of Suffern, NY; and his son, Dominick Sammarone and his wife, Kerry Lennon, of Warwick, NY. He was the proud grandfather of six grandchildren, all of whom adored him and brought immense joy to his life.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 4, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 5, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 129 Lafayette Avenue, Suffern, NY. Interment will be private.
