David Winfield Lockyer of Airmont, NY passed away on March 17, 2018 at the age of 75. David was born to Alfred and Bertha (Pierce) Lockyer on September 23, 1942 in Suffern, NY. He married his beloved wife Shaaron Burres on September 15, 1962.
David started Lockyer Builders in 1979, which is still owned and operated today by his son Chuck. He was a 57 year life member of the Tallman Fire Department serving as Chief from 1979-1981. He was also Chairman for 5 years and served as Fire District Commissioner for 18 years. David had a passion for gardening and collecting antique tools.
David is survived by his wife of 55 years Shaaron Lockyer; loving children Donna Farr (Wayne Mauro) of Washingtonville, NY, and Charles Lockyer (Lisa) of Airmont, NY; cherished grandchildren Tommy Farr (Katrina), Billy Farr (Stephanie), Dylan Lockyer, and Danny Lockyer; adored great granddaughter Aubrey Farr; brother-in-law Sherm Burres (Jeri) of Florida; sisters-in-law Gloria Lockyer of Suffern, NY, Mae Smith of Gloversville, NY, and Dale Trojan of Highland Mills, NY; and by several nieces and nephews. David was predeceased in death by his brothers Russell Smith, William Lockyer, and Ronald Lockyer.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. Funeral Service will be celebrated 11am on Wednesday, March 21st also at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Airmont Lutheran Cemetery.
