Doris Codispoti, 84, of Tallman, New York, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2018, at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan. Born May 12, 1934 in Pearl River, New York, she is predeceased by her parents, David and Hermine Peterson, her late husband, Andrew Codispoti, her beloved daughter, Andrea Codispoti, and her dear sister, Lois Peterson.
Doris was a retired Case Worker for the Department of Social Services assisting families in need of emergency shelter. She was an active member of the League of Women Voters, the Suffern Women’s Club and the Morning Music Club. She was an avid reader and loved theater, painting, international travel and spending time with her many close friends and family.
Doris is survived by her brother David Peterson of Park Ridge, New Jersey; son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren Lawrence, Mary, Emily and Andrew Codispoti of Airmont, New York; and daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren, Pamela, Mark, Colin and Ryan Habner of Bronxville, New York.
Visitation will be held at the Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, New York 10901 on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 pm.
Funeral service will be held at the Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, New York on Friday, November 23, 2018 at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Airmont Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Morning Music Club and sent to the attention of Bernice Gerstein, 4 Baltic Court, New City, NY 10956.
