Dorothy Bondone

Dorothy I. Bondone, 96, passed away on Friday, November 6, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY. Dorothy was born on February 6, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of the late Andrew and Giuseppina (Ravizza) Silvano. She grew up in Brooklyn and attended school there. She worked for the Dime Savings Bank of Brooklyn for many years. She married the late Rudolph (Rudy) Bondone in 1948. He passed away in 2008. Dorothy and Rudy moved to Bennington, Vermont in 1983 after their retirement. They spent many happy years together in their home on Bard Road. Dorothy was very active in the Bennington community. She was a member of the Bennington Lions Club, the Bennington AARP and RSVP, as well as the former Bennington Club. She was also a “gray lady” at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. She was an active member of the Sacred Heart St. Francis DeSales Church. You would often see her at the Bennington Library, as reading was one of her favorite things to do, along with cooking, gardening, painting and dancing. In 2013, she moved to Pomona, New York, where she continued her active community service and became a member of St. Boniface Church. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Josanna Jean-Louis and her husband Gaston, her grandson, Dr. Gaston Jean-Louis, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother, Giuseppe Silvano and her sister, Mary LaMantia.
