Edward J. Schiela

Edward J. Schiela, beloved husband, cherished father and grandfather joined his wife Helen in Heaven on December 17, 2012. Despite his long illness, Ed remained a cheerful, steady presence in his family home, up to the end showing the warmth and humor that characterized his life. He was born September 12, 1931 to Edward and Sarah Schiela in Bronx, NY. He was retired from IBM and the US Navy. He was a member of St. Boniface Church and the Tin Can Sailors.

Edward was predeceased by his loving wife Helen and sister Betty and is survived by six loving children, Kathleen Larrivey and husband Chris, Patricia Hinds, Ted Schiela and wife Lynnell, Teresa Salvato and husband Ron, Eileen Kieck and husband Brian, and Maureen Hedden and husband Tim. Seventeen grandchildren, Lyndsay, Courtney and Jason Larrivey, Chris and Melissa Hinds, Alexa Schiela, Alex, Juli, Dani, Nick and Helena Salvato, Sarah, Sean and Patrick Kieck, Garrett, Andrew and Kayla Hedden. One brother, Jack Schiela.

The family will be present to receive friends and relatives on Thursday, December 20, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 10:30am at St. Boniface Church, Wesley Hills, NY. Burial will follow in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to United Hospice of Rockland, 11 Stokum Lane, New City, NY 10956.
