Eileen F. Mack, a longtime resident of Suffern, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded with the love of her family on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Born in The Bronx, NY on January 13, 1932, she was the beloved daughter of the late James and Helen (Goraleski) Brooks.
Eileen married the love of her life, William D. Mack (Sonny), on June 14, 1952, in The Bronx. They moved to Suffern while their family continued to grow and established strong roots in their community. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on November 13, 1991.
She is survived by her loving children, William Mack (Annie), Robert Mack, Tami Hynes (Jim) and Scott Mack (Elaine). She is also survived by her grandchildren. Affectionately known as Gram to Jimmy (Rosana), Danny (Kristin), Mark (Meredith), Amanda (Jack), Brooke, and James. To her great-grandchildren, Jack, Jace, Joey, Kendra, Asher and Madilyn she was known lovingly as GGMA.
Eileen was the true matriarch of her family, and she cherished them more than anything. She was also loved by her brothers Edward (Lynn), James (Gerri), Raymond (Roberta) and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She especially adored her grandchildren and treasured family get-togethers, where her warmth and loving spirit brought everyone together. Eileen was a longtime member of the Ramapo Senior Citizens Club and often referred to as one of “The Ward Street/Hillside Ave Ladies”. She always had a full calendar but in her down time she would be found crocheting, knitting, completing crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and listening to country music, all while drinking hot tea.
Eileen was predeceased by her beloved husband Sonny, two younger brothers Edward and James Brooks, and her daughter, Eileen Horton.
Eileen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her kindness, warmth, outgoing personality and love will remain in their hearts and memories forever.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maryrest Cemetery located at 770 Darlington Ave, Mahwah, NJ.
