

Ernest Rittendale, 90, was born on February 14, 1920 to Luigi and Carmela (DeMarco) Ritondale (predeceased) of Maira, Italy. Ernest came to the United States in 1929. He served in the United States Army in WWII. Ernie was married to the late Rose (Muti) for 60 years. Ernie is survived by his two daughters, Carmella McGrade (John) and Diane Patriaco. He also has three grandchildren, Michael Malone (Alexa), Timothy Malone (Jane) and Nicole Iasiello (Chris). Ernie is also survived by his sisters, Mary Murphy, Rose Koplovitz (Josh) and brother Anthony Rittendale (Barbara). Ernie is survived by five great grandchildren, Zachary, Victoria, Ashley, Allison and Abigail and many nieces and nephews. Ernie was an avid golfer, gardener, and was famous on the Boulevard for growing his delicious tomatoes. Ernie was a resident of Suffern for over 60 years, and a well respected business man/owner of the Ideal Barber Shop where everyone knew and loved him as 'Ernie the Barber'. He retired in 2002. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, June 7, 2010 at 10am at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern followed by the Interment at St. Anthony's Cemetery in Nanuet.
