Etta Rose Rooney

Dear daughter of the late Joseph and Yolanda Steffanacci D’Amico, she was born on May 6, 1932 in Passaic NJ. Loving mother of Mark Joseph and wife Jodi of Airmont, NY. Beloved Nan of Logan Rooney, grand-dogs Eddie, Luke and Leia and grand-parrot Tequila. Late sister of Mary Ann Allen and brother Michael and sister-in-law Toba. Niece Sheryl Allen of Clifton and Nephew Michael D’Amico and his wife Cathy of Wayne.

Mrs. Rooney graduated high school from St. Nicholas Pope Pius XII in 1950. She attended St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Passaic in 1953 and also attended Seton Hall. She was a school nurse for 32 years in Clifton, then Upper Saddle River. Her last 19 years was spent in Mahwah where she cared for all her beloved students. She served her community of Upper Saddle River as member of the Board of Health then President and Treasurer for the Northwest Regional Health Commission. She was also a member of the NJREA of NJ, BCREA and MREA.

Visitation will be at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home in Suffern, NY on Tuesday January 3rd from 3pm to 8pm. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life at a Christian Burial Mass at The Sacred Heart Church 129 Lafayette Ave Suffern, NY on Wednesday January 4th at 10:30 am, where she was a member. Interment will follow at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Totowa, NJ.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Church in Suffern, NY.
