

Frank Aguilar, age 94, of West New York, NJ, Hampton Bays, NY and long-time resident of River Vale, NJ passed away on October 26th, 2011. He was born on October 19, 1917 to Estella & Francisco Aguilar in Honduras, Central America. Frank was recently predeceased by his beloved wife of 64 years, Anna Aguilar. Frank is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Marianne Aguilar of Suffern, NY; a daughter and son-in-law, Carlene and George Spiegel of Rye, NY: grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Whitney, and Michael; and five great-grandchildren, Michael, Taylor, John, Dylan, and Brooke. And a brother, Jimmy and sister-in-law Norma, 5 nieces: Nancy Burke, Ivonne Aguilar, Estella Aguilar, Karen Aguilar and 4 nephews: Roberto Aguilar, Christopher Aguilar, Paul Aguilar, Steven Aguilar. After living in New Orleans and Boston, Frank settled in New York City. He was an officer in the United States Merchant Marines from 1944-46. He commandeered many missions under both United States and Foreign Flags, bringing supplies to Allied troops which included the legendary Murmansk Run in the North Atlantic. Frank was a Building Manager in New York City’s financial district at 20 Exchange Place and 40 Wall Street. Frank and Anna loved traveling and cruising, visiting many parts of the world, from Panama to Thailand. Frank enjoyed repairing anything that needed fixing. He was a loyal Boston Red Sox fan. Frank was Anna’s ever faithful sous-chef and when entertaining, he made everyone feel like family. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5 at 4:30 PM at Rye Presbyterian Church 882 Boston Post Road, Rye NY.
