

Frank Salvatore Calfa, Sr. of Suffern, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 25, 2019 in Ridgewood, NJ at the age of 93. Frank was born to Salvatore and Maria (Altomare) on July 24, 1925 in Brooklyn, NY. He was a member of the Sons of Italy Vincent Linguanti Lodge #2212 and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Suffern NY. He worked for the NYC Transit Authority for over 30 and for an additional 17 years as the Office Manager for E Daskal Corporation in Suffern. He was a proud World War II veteran and served in the 104th Infantry Timber Wolves under General Terry Allen. His WWII experiences will be featured in a soon to be published book. At the age of 89 he took the Honor Flight to Washington DC and at age 92 traveled to Nevada for a reunion with surviving members of the Timber Wolves. Frank had an amazing ability to recount stories from the past, even up until his passing. Frank also loved woodworking and was a self taught Master Carpenter. Frank was blessed to be married to his wife Angelica (Siliato) for almost 65 years . Frank is survived by his beloved children Salvatore L. Calfa (Juanita), George Calfa, Frank S. Calfa Jr. (Susan) and Maria Teresa DePaul (Vincent), adored grandchildren Shawn, Brian, Christie, Frank III, Joseph, Stephen, Matthew, ten great-grandchildren, and caring brother Alfred Calfa and sister Louise Caruso. He is predeceased by his granddaughter Heather Stone and brothers Rudolph, and Eugene and sister Stella. Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM, Monday, April 29, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 60 Washington Avenue Suffern, NY with interment to follow at Frederick Loescher Veterans Memorial Cemetery 220 Brick Church Rd, Spring Valley, NY 10977
