George Sikorsky

George Kenneth Sikorsky was born on August 8, 1930 in New York City, N.Y. to parents George and Nerissa Sikorsky.George was the youngest of their two children.His older sister, Nerissa was born in 1927. George and Nerissa raised their two children in New York City until WWII.During the war, his father moved the family to Connecticut in order to work as an electrician in the Naval Yard.Eventually they found their way back to New York City.

George attended and graduated from George Washington High School.In 1950, George opened up his own business, Sikorsky Auto Repair in Yorkville, New York.He was drafted in 1952 into the US Army during the Korean War.He was stationed in Germany for two years. Leaving his business to be run by his brother-in-law, Al Kern. In 1954, he was discharged and returned to his business.

He met his future wife, Luzia H. Berger at a German dance in the Lorelei Dance Hall.They were married on August 7,1960. George and Luzia lived in New York City, NY for three years.In 1963, they moved to Spring Valley, New York where they raised their four sons; George, Kenneth, Gregory and Perry.In 1978, George moved Sikorsky Auto Repair up to Monsey, New York where it remains today.

George was very involved within his community.He was a member in the Monsey Lions Club where he served as president.George belonged to the German Masons Uhland Lodge. A member of Brick Church where he practiced his faith. Also a fond lover of magic, George belonged to the Magician’s Club.George had a huge passion for antique cars in which he was a collector as well as a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America. George mostly enjoyed family gatherings and social events.He had a large circle of friends in which he enjoyed meeting up for weekly lunches or dinners.To know George was to love him.He will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.

George lost his 16 month fight to pancreatic cancer on Wednesday, March 11, 2020.He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his immediate family.

George is predeceased by his parents, George and Nerissa Sikorsky, Brother-In-Law, Al Kern, his beloved wife of 59 years, Luzia H. Sikorsky January 9, 2019 and son, Gregory R. SikorskySeptember 11, 2001.

George is survived by his sons; George (Barbara), Kenneth &

Perry (Maria), six adoringgrandchildren; Daniel, Kasey, Steven,

Marisa, Kathryn & Amanda and great granddaughter, Emily. Caring sister, Nerissa Kern; loving nieces Nerissa (Neil) Dexter, Trilby (Leo) Sieverding, and Jeannette (Chris) Cummins; great nieces Adrienne & Christianna Sieverding.
