Gracita Bien Aime St. Germain

During her early teens, she moved from her hometown to the capital of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, where she completed her primary studies. During her early 20's, she got married and birth two children.

Shortly after given birth to her second child, she traveled to the US. A few years down the line, she later divorced and remarried at which point she had her third child. She spent some time in Florida but for the most part, mainly resided in NY. She was a resident of New City, NY untill her recent passing.

Tatie Gracita, was a Beautiful, confident, vibrant, and strong, woman. She loved watching her TV dramas, the evening news, law & order. She also loved music and dancing. She played a big role in influencing her children, nieces and nephews in the love of home making, cooking and music.

Her favorite genre was chansonette francaise and of course kompa and Bolero. Charles Aznavour and Michel Sardou were two of her most favorite Artists to listen to.

Gracita was truly a home body, Home making was truly her Art. She loved spending time at home, taking care of her home and family. She loved cooking delicious dishes and some baking as well. Her Friday griot platter, pikliz and seasoning is to die for. Her red rice and beans, koupé dwet.

She loved gardening and took very good care of her flowers. Christmas time was her favorite holiday of the year. She did not play about her Christmas decorations.

Tatita, the nickname we gave her, was a very special Woman. A precious light in our lives. To most of you she was a childhood friend, best friend, coworker, customer, and or accquaintance.

But to us, she was a Sister, a Mom, a Grandmother, a Cousin and the coolest Aunty, we were blessed to have. She kept close ties with her children, nieces, nephews and family as a whole.

To some others it was a special bond, she was like a second mom. She not only took care of her children, grandchildren but some of her nieces and nephews as well. She is indeed, one of the Matriarch Poto Mitan of our family.

Gracita Bien Aimee St Germain is survived by her children James, Joanne, Minerva, her grand children Faith and Jaceon, her siblings, Vierge, Marie, Marie Cela, Ermita, Paulette, Ronald, and about 49 nieces and nephews to include their children.

We will miss her dearly. She came, she loved, she was here. Her legacy of silent strength lives on in our hearts and minds forever.
