

Helen was born on April 27, 1924 in Kingston, NY to Paul Secor Beaver and Helen M. (nee Schrowang) Beaver. She was raised in a close family in Port Ewen, NY the eldest of nine. She enjoyed her childhood with her family and friends. She loved outdoor activities and visiting with both her Country Grandparents in Esopus and her City Grandparents in Kingston.
Helen attended Port Ewen Elementary School and enrolled in Kingston High School one year before her elementary school class. She graduated from Kingston HS in 1939 and was recruited to continue her education at Rider College in Trenton, NJ where she pursued a degree in Business Education.
While at Rider College she met the love of her life, Edward M. Dzurinko of Trenton ,NJ a fellow business student. He volunteered for a three year enlistment into the US Army during WW II. He proudly served in the European Theater of Operations under the command of General Omar Bradley. While Edward suspended his education, Helen was able to continue and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1943.
She began her teaching career upon graduation as a Business Ed teacher in Park Ridge High School in New Jersey.
After WW II Edward returned to earn his degree and joined the faculty at Park Ridge HS.
They married on July 27, 1946 and raised a wonderful family of two daughters and three sons together.
Helen returned to teaching as a Business Ed teacher at Nanuet High School in 1968 before serving a 22 year tenure at Suffern High School. Along the way she earned a masters degree in education from William Patterson University of New Jersey, and served as an Adjunct Professor of Business at Rockland Community College.
Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, who were a constant source of pride, her extended families and her many friends. She enjoyed outdoor activities, hiking, travel, theater, classical music and concerts.
She was an active parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Suffern, NY, a long standing member of the Suffern Women’s Club, and volunteered at Christ Church Soup Kitchen in Suffern for many years. She cherished memories of her friends, colleagues and former students throughout her life.
She is predeceased by her parents; her husband of 37 years, Edward; three sisters and two brothers-in-law: Edna (Culver) Ten Broeck; Annette (Ramon) Martinez; and Joan Elizabeth Beaver; three brothers and two sisters in law: Jack Beaver, Eugene Beaver, Jerry (Carol) Beaver, and Patricia Beaver; four brothers in-law and four sisters in-law: John (Margeret & Beverly) Dzurinko, George (Virginia) Dzurinko, Michael (Helen) Dzurinko, and Helen (Michael) Fesko; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her five children and their spouses: Barbara Elaine (John S.) Ferrao of Airmont, NY, Dr. David John (Sharon) Dzurinko of Plymouth Meeting, PA, Edward Paul (Linda) Dzurinko of Tallman, NY, Mark Joseph (Elizabeth) Dzurinko of Milton, GA, and Mary Elizabeth (Jamie) Goncharoff of Chester Springs, PA; six grandchildren: Elaine Marie (Kierin) Chase of Issaquah, WA, Dr. Christine Elizabeth (Anders) Peterson of Goshen, NY, Jessica Marie (Lennon) Pukowsky of Philadelphia, PA, Elizabeth Catherine (Brian) Leposki of Fort Washington, PA, Captain Jamie Will Goncharoff, Jr., USMC of San Diego, CA, Sarah Elizabeth Goncharoff of Chester Springs, PA, Jennifer Michelle Battiato of Tompkins Cove, NY, and Angelina Lotz & Jack Schwickrath of Milton, GA; three great grandchildren: Tempest Mya Chase, Liara Sol Peterson, and Ian Matthew Leposki; two brothers and two sisters in law: Joseph Beaver of Alplaus, NY, Vincent (Barbara) Beaver of the Villages, FL, and Bertha Beaver of Fishers, IN; twenty two cherished nieces and nephews and their spouses, twenty cherished grand nieces and grand nephews, and an extended network of relatives, friends, colleagues, and former students.
