

Manrique, Hermogenes E. of Monsey, NY. Died June 10, 2011 at age 93. Born June 14, 1917 in Manzanillo, Cuba to Eduardo and Liduvina (Romagosa) Manrique. Hermogenes served honorably in the US Army during WWII. He was an integral part of the invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach. In addition to other medals and awards he is a recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Survived by his beloved wife Arminda (Justiniano) Manrique, loving children Samuel Manrique (wife Sandra), Mildred Torres (husband Jason), Clara Manrique, Liduvina Manrique, Irma Manrique, Myra Leuci (husband Anthony), Eunice Lavelle (husband Michael) and Marilyn Rodriguez (husband Jose), 10 devoted grandchildren, 3 cherished great grandchildren and caring siblings Manuel Manrique (wife Maria) and Hermosa Fonseca. Predeceased by his sister Gloria Catasu. Visitation Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home 177 Route 59 in Suffern. Funeral Mass Wednesday 11am at Sacred Heart Church in Suffern follow by an Interment at Frederick W. Loescher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY. The Manrique Family suggests donations be made in Hermogenes’ name to; The Lustgarten Foundation, The American Diabetes Association or The American Heart Association.
