He was born in Elmhurst, NY, on April 11, 1929. He received his High School diploma from Newtown High School and his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Pace University. In 1954 he married Emilia Maffei and they were happily married for 55 years. They enjoyed an active social life and family life together until Emilia passed in 2009.
His greatest love was his family. His son Thomas Cappello predeceased him in 2005. He is survived by his two daughters; Annette Hacker and Rosemarie Cappello-Mallozzi, his sons-in-laws; Charles Hacker and Anthony Mallozzi, his grandchildren; Robert Healy and Colette Nigro, and his great grandchildren; Landon Nigro, Austin Healy and Riley Nigro. He is also survived by his sister Ann Donnellan.
He had a thriving career as Advertising Sales Director for Davis Publications. Together with Davis Publications, he established a very successful magazine called Income Opportunities. He then moved on as Advertising Director to Essence Magazine. He retired from Essence Magazine in 1998.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He was also an active volunteer at St. Joseph’s Church in Spring Valley, NY, where he assisted with fund raising. He was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants.
The viewing will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough on Thursday, December 8 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901. The church services and burial will be held at St. Anthony’s Chapel and cemetery, at 36 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY 10954 at 10am on Friday, December 9, 2022.
