

Airmont – James Francis Gallagher passed away Thursday, October 15, 2015 peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was born on December 27, 1932 in Bronx, NY to the late James and Beatrice Gallagher (Cummings).
James was a US Navy Korean War veteran, NYPD Lieutenant (retired ’85), life member of the NYPD PBA, founding member of Rockland County 10-13, life member of the American Legion Post 859 (Past 9th District Commander), and member of the Pearl River Ancient Order of Hibernians.
He is survived by his children Terry Froehlich (Steve) of Hopewell Jct., NY and Michael Gallagher of Montebello, NY, along with his adored grandchildren Thomas, Katherine, Maureen, Mary and Liam, his brother John and his special friend Patricia Woods. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Rosemarie (Hovell) and son, James.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm at Wanamaker and Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY, where the funeral service will be held on Monday, October 19th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Wounded Warriors Project.
