

Jeannette Vivian Pressley, a resident of Chestnut Ridge, NY, passed away on December 26, 2023, at the age of 83. She was born on December 20, 1940, in Moultrie, Georgia, to Rubin and Rosa Bell Teel. Jeannette had a successful career as the Owner/Administrator of Abet Universal Services Inc. in Spring Valley, New York, which was the first Black-Owned female Home Care Services Agency in Rockland County. The agency remains successful for all 29 years in operation until its close in 2018. She also served as a Counselor for The East Ramapo School District.
Jeannette was a dedicated scholar and local Debutante during her time at Inkster High School, where she graduated in the class of 1958. She then attended Tuskegee Institute in Alabama, where she met her life-long sweetheart, James Pressley Jr. They shared a romantic love story and were married for 63 years. Together, they had four children: Cheryl, Kevin, Kenneth, and Rosa. Jeannette is also survived by six grandchildren: Lenora, James, Zephaniah, Jacquelyn, Jenae, and Jasmine. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Evan, Amayah, and Ahyaan, with one more on the way.
Jeannette is survived by her brother, Rubin Carl Teel, and sister, Malinda Madison, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins and loving friends throughout the United States. She was predeceased by her sister, Olivia Wyatt.
Visitation for Jeannette will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd, from 7-9pm at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, located at 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 4th, at 1pm at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Brick Church Cemetery, located at 221 Brick Church Rd, New Hempstead, NY 10977.
