

Joan Marilyn Turner was born November 22, 1928 in the Bronx New York to Jacob and Sarah (Wieissman) Zawel. She grew up during the great depression and World War II working at her fathers grocery store in the Bronx. In the late 40s she moved to Florida and met her future husband Jack Turner and married in July of 1950. In 1966 They moved to Orangeburg NY and raised their four children there and then moved to Suffern NY in 2013.
Joan was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as “Gram” and “Mima”
She instilled in her children and grandchildren her strong values that have served them well.
Joan was predeceased by loving husband Jack (2014), her first born son Rod (2018) and her sister Lucille Michaelson (2014)
She is survived by her son Randy and his wife Kuei-Mei, her daughter Cindi (Turner) Paul and her husband Ken, her son Bill Turner and his wife Denise, her daughter in law Kathleen Turner, her grandchildren Elizabeth Turner (Rod), Kody Paul, Dillon Paul (Cindi), David Turner and James Turner (Bill). Also her brother Frank Zawel and his wife Vivian along with their daughters Rhonda, Lori and Julie and her sister in law Jean (Turner) Clegg and her daughter Barbara.
She passed in peace at her home in Suffern NY at the age of 91
She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
