

Joan Virginia Marshall of Spring Valley NY was born at home on Andrews Ave, Bronx NY, March 8th 1929 to Maurice Edmund and Susan Marian Henry (nee Ross). She passed way from Natural Causes (Cardiac Arrest) at Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern NY surrounded by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jim, granddaughter Joanne and daughter in law, Jane on November 19th 2025 at the age of 96. Her last days were also comforted by the visits of her grandsons Tom and John Paul, great granddaughters Lauren, Toni-Ann and Kylie.
Growing up in the Woodlawn Section of the Bronx NY, Joan attended Saint Barnabas Grammar and High Schools. She worked various jobs throughout her life as a secretary, a salesperson for Montgomery Ward, a waitress and a wife and mother of 3, Richard, Kathleen and Lawrence.
Joan (aka mom, Nannie, aunt Joan and friend) was a member of the Mother’s Club at Saint Joseph’s School in Spring Valley NY and President of the Senior Citizens Club for many years also at Saint Josephs and an avid bowler at the Kingpin in West Nyack and the New City Bowl in her younger years.
Joan met the love of her life, William (Bill) Marshall while he was on leave from the Navy in their home town, Woodlawn. They married on October 23rd 1948 at Saint Barnabas Church, Bronx NY and later moved their family to Rockland County NY on June1st,1959. Bill and Joan were married 71 yrs at the time of his passing.
Joan is survived by her daughter Kathleen Thornton (James) of Washingtonville NY, Daughter in-laws Jane Marshall of Hillsborough NJ and Linda Marshall of Santa Rosa Beach Fl. Grandchildren, Joanne (Thomas) Bisconti, Richard W Marshall ll (Racheal) and John Paul Marshall, Kimberly Marshall, Doug (Diane) Dembiec and Sean (Sherry) Thornton.
Great Grandchildren Lauren (Brian) Bloom, Toni-Ann Annunziata. Kylie Marshall, Peyton Marshall, Owen W Marshall, Zoë Marshall. Brett (Erika) Bisconti, Brittany (Alex) Monaco, Brianna Bisconti, Brianna (James) O’Mara, Cody (Jordan) Dembiec, Liam, Declan and Owen Thornton.
Great Great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Junie, Jack, Maren, Lillie, Violet and Rosalie.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews of the Crozier and Ruehl Families and very special friends considered family, the Vito and Emilia LaBarbera family and the Paoli/ Jacobs family. She will also be greatly missed by her good friends Rose Musacchio and Richard Gaglione.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, loving husband, William F Marshall (April 2020) sons, Richard W Marshall (January 2022) and Lawrence T Marshall (July 2022), Daughter-in-law, Deborah Renaud Marshall, sisters Dorothy (John) Crozier and Patricia (Joseph) Connolly. Sister in-law Mary (James) Ruehl and in laws Frederick (Elizabeth) Marshall and her best friend Dorothy (Joseph) Paoli.
A special thank you to the staff of the CCU of Good Samaritan Hospital. You gave her wonderful care and made her so comfortable in her final journey.
