John Francis Schaber, born on February 5th, 1979, in Suffern New York, passed away on September 28th, 2025, at the age of 46 after a long battle with Kidney Disease. He lived a life surrounded by friends from work, the Fire Service of Rockland County, his own Fire Company’s brothers and sisters and most of all his family.
John was predeceased by his father Edward Schaber, Mother Patricia Jablin, and Stepfather Lloyd Bill Jablin. He is survived by his ex-wife and friend Maddy Motta, brother Chris Schaber, niece Sarah Schaber and her partner Richard Kuciej.
John worked for Rockland Hyundai of West Nyack for many years serving as Parts Manager. John was also a 29 year member of the Hugh Gassner Fire Company of the South Spring Valley Fire District, serving as Chief from 2012-2014. He just became a life member of the R.C.V.F.A., and was a member of the Rockland County Chiefs Association.
A memorial visitation will be held at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, located at 177 Route 59, Suffern, New York, 10901, on October 7, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
