This is a voice from the past.  Your mom hired me right out of college and told me months later I was so bad on my interview.  The reason why I think I was was because I really had no experience.  She took a chance and hired me anyway and I hope I never let her down.  But the real reason I’m writing this is to let you know your mom was the kindest most thoughtful woman besides my own mom i have never known.  I went onto carry her morals and became a principal in the Bronx for 15 years with her altruism always behind me .

To Jo’s son, to Angela, and your families,

As the former recreation coordinator for the Village of Suffern, I had the pleasure of both working with Jo when she was in the office at Sacred Heart, and more importantly each year when the Village Mayors  acknowledged her at Donna’s Park, when ceremonies were held there.  She gave so much to the Village. I send condolences to all.

Stephen and family:

My condolences to you all.  As a 15-year-old Nyack High School sophomore in 1981 with an interest in working with the disabled population I was offered summer employment at Camp Venture, thanks to Mrs. Hallett with whom I interviewed.  This experience proved to be rewarding, fulfilling, and educational.  My relationship with Camp Venture started earlier than that though as my late parents always supported the Camp Venture mission through monetary donations and volunteering their time in preparing the Thiells campus for the summer arrivals.  I also supported this mission by participating in the annual walk-a-thon starting at the age of nine.  I have such wonderful memories of the Venture family and its mission.  May you find comfort in knowing that Jo served her community well.

I am very sad and sorry to hear of Jo’s passing. I worked with Jo for  many years at Sacred Heart School, and I loved her.   She was like sunshine every time you walked into the office.  We shared many laughs together and even a few tears!

I was so sorry to hear that of the loss of my friend Jo. We meet at PWP I was from from the Wayne chapter and my friend Jo was from Paramus' chapter . We enjoyed many of occasions. dancing, conferences and conversations , those were the days  that I will always cherish! May you Rest in Peace Jo  with my husband Doug  and so many other members of PWP. Until we meet again keep dancing!🙏💕

Stephen and family: I am so sorry for your loss! I have so many beautiful memories of your family!  I know your Dad and Donna were waiting with open arms. Your mom taught me a huge lesson when I wanted to become a counselor at Camp Venture. She told me that when I was ready to come and see her.  So that summer I went and told her I was ready with stipulation that I did not want do not want to work with Letchworth Village or Rockland State campers.  She said ok!  When it came time to get my assignment, she put me with the young kids and adults from Camp Venture.  When I told her that I didn't think I could handle it she said she had faith in me and that she would not have put me in that group if she didn't think I could handle it. Those were some of the best summers I had working at Camp Venture and she was right!  I truly loved it!  Your mom was a true mentor to me!
