Kevin was born on March 23, 1956 in Yonkers, New York to Charles & Frances Parmelee. He graduated from Gorton High School in Yonkers, and lived most of his life in New York.
Anyone who knew Kevin was taken by his incredibly vivacious personality, and his infectious laugh. Kevin loved following the history of places that were important to him. He loved to share photos of the places he would frequent as a child and note all of the changes that had occurred over the years. He especially loved old cars, and historic photos of the streets and stores of Yonkers where he grew up. Kevin loved to go on cruises with his friends and treasured the time he spent with them. Kevin adored old movies. He watched them in his spare time, enjoying Joan Crawford and Judy Garland as much as the next guy. Kevin had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to drive faster than the law allowed, and knew his way around a casino. Most importantly though - Kevin had a deep love for his family and friends. We were all blessed to have him as a part of our lives.
Kevin worked at the East Ramapo School District for 35 years. He had recently retired from his position and was recognized by the school district with a Resolution of Respect. During his career as a computer operator he upgraded the entire districts’ phone system, assisted schools with their technology budgets, and served as Co-President of the Supervisors of Business Bargaining Unit. Above all else, Kevin was known to have “unwavering loyalty and team spirit”. Kevin loved his job and would often speak of his coworkers as though they were family.
Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Charles Parmelee, his mother, Frances Parmelee, his brother Charles Parmelee (Anna), and his cousin Scott Kavanaugh. He is survived by his brother William Parmelee, his cousins, Kathleen Popovic (Stephen) & Dorothy Mowatt (Dick), his close family, Jeannine Rose (David), Lorraine Popovic, Daniel Popovic (Karla), & Dawn Kavanaugh along with several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Kevin’s family suggests donations in his name be made to the American Kidney Fund through kidney.org.
