Lena D. Abruzzi of Tuxedo, NY, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at the age of 98. Lena was born to Andrew and Josephine (Conte) DiVincenzo on February 8, 1918, in Mount Vernon, NY. Lena earned her Masters of Arts from Columbia Teachers College and taught French and English in Mount Vernon and later substitute taught in Wappingers Falls. She was a member of the Montebello Seniors. She loved to read and play Scrabble. She enjoyed listening to opera and watching ice skating, tennis and Jeopardy.
Lena is survived by her loving children, Michele Abruzzi (Larry Fine), Kathe DeVay and Paul Abruzzi, cherished grandchildren Matthew, Rachel, Paul, Johanna, Nathan and Eric, and one adored great grandchild, Calvin. Lena was predeceased by her siblings, Dante, Louis and Philomena.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 16, from 5-8PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY, 10901. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 17, at 10AM at Beechwoods Cemetery, 179 Beechwood Ave, New Rochelle, NY 10801.
