Louis was the beloved husband of June Scriba(deceased), with whom he shared 74 years of marriage since their union on June 1, 1949. Together, they built a life rich in love, laughter, and lasting memories.
Louis was a devoted father to his four children: Diana Visconti (Joseph), Linda Mihok (Lawrence), Debora Tracey (Gerald), and Edward Scriba. He was also a proud grandfather to Jennifer, Stephanie, Annalise, Gabrielle, Brett, and Kristen, and a loving great-grandfather to eight great-grandchildren. Louis also leaves behind his sister, Elfrieda Brandt and brother, Leroy Scriba. Louis was predeceased by his parents, Louis F. and Catherine (Grossman) Scriba, as well as his brothers, Fredrick, and Robert Scriba.
Louis served in the Navy and spent time on the USS Grand Canyon (AD-28), a Shenandoah-class destroyer tender, in the Mediterranean. During that time, he sent many beautiful love letters home to his wife, missing her terribly.
Louis eventually moved to Suffern, NY where he started work at Rockland Light and Power Company (now Orange & Rockland Utility, Inc) as a lineman and retiring as a supervisor.
Throughout his life, Louis was actively involved in his community. Louis served as Captain of the Volunteer Hose Co. #1(1977-1978) and as their 47th Chief of the Suffern Fire Department (1981-1983). He was a member of the Masonic Temple.
Louis was so grateful to be able to attend his family reunion just two weeks ago in Maryland.
A visitation will be held on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Wanamaker & Carlough Funeral Home, located at 177 Route 59, Suffern, NY 10901. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 1PM. Burial will follow at Airmont Coptic Christian Cemetery, Airmont, NY.
